Solar Impulse achieved its first transatlantic flight Covestro
The Solar Impulse team

The Solar Impulse 2 plane took off on the 20th June 2016 from JFK Airport, New York en route to Seville, Spain for its first transatlantic flight using no fuel and producing zero emissions.  The flight landed on the 23rd June 2016 at 05:38 UTC after travelling a distance of 6765km crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

Covestro’s innovative technology including its microcellular polyurethane and rigid foam insulates and protects the pilot and cockpit of the plane.  In addition, the Covestro special coating applied to the plane helps to increase aerodynamics and weather resistance.  These and other Covestro technologies will greatly help Solar Impulse’s voyage onto Abu Dhabi, UAE where the adventure started in March 2015.

Covestro is a great supporter of this cause and is just another way we make the world a brighter place.
