Australia has recorded one of its worst bushfire seasons on record, with countless fires that raged throughout the country destroying land, properties and countless animals - and all this on the back of droughts that have played a part in the devastation. New South Wales and Victoria fared the worst of all states where fires ripped through forests, farmland and towns.

Climate change over the past 10 – 15 years has impacted many areas where a lack of rainfall has played a part in the fires being so intense, and in so many cases, difficult to extinguish. It was fortunate that recent rains have helped by putting out many of the bushfires that volunteer fire fighters from home and overseas battled to control.

Covestro Australia, with Covestro globally, is continuing to support the relief effort financially, by helping organisations that are playing a part in the rebuild. Australia has long been a country that “looks after its mates in tough times” and no doubt will continue this tradition in future. While the rebuild will take some time, the funds donated will help communities re-establish what was there before the fires, while supporting animal welfare, not only the injured animals but also the habitat where they live.
